Omw back home from the 63rd March on Washington and I’ve been thinking about the power of “We the People.” It was more than inspiring to see such a broad coalition show up from NAN, NAACP, WFP, League of Women Voters, NCBPC, The Black Institute to Christian, Muslim and Jewish faith communities, all coming together not just around GOTV, but around protecting Black civil rights and our democracy!! One of my favorite parts was getting to connect with other organizers, trade ideas, share struggles and actually make plans to build together in real time No one organization or individual can do this work alone. But when our coalitions are big enough and organized enough, we have the people power to take on the likes of Trump and anyone else who tries to roll back our rights or seek to hold and concentrate power within themselves!! We’ve got a lot of that going around… but regardless of that, That’s what “We the People” is about and despite attempts of the powerful to rig the system in their favor, it’s up to us, the people, to continue to fight them at every turn. There’s work to be done ✊🏿

Today’s gathering was a powerful reminder that we can’t place the hunger for power above the will of the voters! To whom it may concern, remember this and do the right thing by voting no on the proposed amendments to the party rules tomorrow! #BrooklynCantWait

🇯🇲 Jamaica Rising! 🇯🇲 It was great being out for the Jamaica Rising Day Parade and celebrating the people, culture, music, and traditions that have helped shape Brooklyn for generations. But celebrating community also means protecting community! Our neighborhoods continue to change, and too many longtime residents, families, and small businesses are being displaced in the process. Days like this are a reminder that the immigrant communities that built these neighborhoods; and the culture, institutions, and traditions they brought with them; are not going anywhere anytime soon. As someone who has called Brooklyn home my entire life, I was proud to be part of a celebration that honors where we come from while reminding us what’s worth fighting to preserve. Our neighborhoods can grow and change without losing the people and culture that made them home!!!! 🇯🇲❤️🖤💚
