Glad I had the opportunity to get out to the Utility Rip Off Hearing hosted by Public Power NY alongside members of the young adult committee (NAACP Brooklyn) Too many corporations have monopolized the delivery of a public resource as essential as electricity and are squeezing working class New Yorkers on a monthly basis without any consistent relationship between usage and charged rates Also as we know, harmful utility and energy operations threaten black and brown communities the most through high financial burdens, disproportionate environmental pollution, and localized infrastructure risks! Had the honor of meeting Dr. Cornel West at the CORE Reparations Summit 🙏🏿 Beyond that personal moment, it was nourishing to be amongst family at Riverside Church; surrounded by folks who have been in this fight and continue to push for racial justice and reparations. We have to keep organizing and holding this administration to task to fully execute the Racial Equity Plan and follow through on its commitments to racial equity at large.
